Luck factor cannot be denied in life, but when this factor turns into superstition then it becomes like this with hard work and talent. This is the origin of director Abhishek Sharma’s ‘The Zoya Factor’.
The Zoya factor movie review
- Genre – Romance
- Star Cast – Sonam Kapoor, Dulquer Salmaan, Angad Bedi
- Director –Abhishek Sharma
- Rating – 3.5/5
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma has brought light films like ‘Tere Bin Laden’ and ‘Shaukeen’. He also directed ‘Pokhran’ based on the true event of the nuclear test. This time through ‘The Zoya Factor’, he has once again appeared with the light-hearted comedy.
Story of The Movie
Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), born on 25 August 1983, considered historic for India, gives her cricket-loving family the title of Lucky Charm. They feel that Zoya’s birth is instrumental in India’s winning the World Cup. Since then, whether it is street cricket or Zoya’s job, everywhere Zoya’s luck factor is overcome at the last moment by her sinking boat. Zoya, who works as a junior copywriter in the advertising world by profession, sends her ad agency to do a photo shoot of the Indian cricket team.
There Zoya and Indian cricket team captain Nikhil Khoda (Dulquer Salmaan) get caught in each other’s attraction at first sight. The next day while having breakfast with the Indian cricket team at the breakfast table, Zoya tells everyone that many of the team’s players are impressed by the fact that her family considers her a lucky charm for cricket.
On the same day when India wins the match in an incredible way, the team’s confidence is confirmed that Zoya is lucky in terms of cricket. However, Nikhil has faith in the hard work and talent of the players rather than Luck. Zoya and Nikhil’s love goes ahead and grows with that, the Indian cricket team’s belief in Zoya to be a lucky charm for cricket. There the Indian Cricket Board offers Zoya to become the Lucky Muscat of the Indian cricket team, so that they can win the World Cup.
Zoya at first rejects this offer, but when the team player Robin (Angad Bedi) creates misunderstandings between her and Nikhil, she goes to the contract of one crore to prove her luck factor in front of Nikhil. Signs it. Now does Zoya’s lucky charm work in the World Cup or does Nikhil believe his team? You have to watch the film to know this.
Why Should You Watch This Movie
Abhishek Kapoor, his film based on Anuja Chauhan’s book, has kept a lot of light in the first half. It entertains the audience, but in pieces. The pace of the film is quite slow before the intermission. The film picks up as soon as the Zoya Factor is on in the second half, but the way the director has shown the Indian team the Zoya’s Luck Factor is childish.
Plus Point of Movie
The commentary of commentators is laughable, but you wonder if this kind of commentary is possible in cricket. The director has taken a lot of cinematic liberty in this film, woven around cricket to hold the entertainment strings.
What About The Performance
- Sonam as the naive and naive Zoya has performed her role with sincerity. She has done such roles in the past as well, but this time her comic timing seems to be preserved.
- The highlight of the film has proved to be Dulquer Salmaan. This is his second film after ‘Caravan’ and he not only has cute and handsome but has lived his role with full conviction. Anil Kapoor, who came for a scene in the film, has managed to laugh.
- Sanjay Kapoor as Zoya’s father and Sikander Kher as brother Dilawar have done a good job.
- Angad Bedi maintains intensity in Robin’s role. Songs like ‘Kash’ and ‘Mehru’ have become beautiful in the music of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
